Mission
We are a community-based, volunteer-run book exchange for Banner Elk and Avery County, operating on a "bring a book, take a book" policy.
How it Works
Bring a book, take a book! There is no check out or return of books. Simply bring a book or books and exchange them for the same number of different books. No books to trade in? In lieu of a book to exchange, you may make a small donation to take a book home.
***(We kindly ask that patrons do not collect books from the Book Exchange for re-sale.)***
We now exchange puzzles, as well! Bring in your COMPLETE puzzle to exchange for a new challenging puzzle!
Programming
The Book Exchange is more than just a library! We offer the following programs to the community:
- Book Discussion Groups
- BE Readers (Children's book discussion)
- Writers' Group
- Science/Nature/Literacy Programs for Children
- Music Jams
- Seasonal Lectures
